Block 34 - Year of Scrappy Triangles

quilt block, free quilt block pattern, 6" quilt block tutorial, scrap buster, use leftover fabric, quilt block, foundation paper piecing, paper piecing patterns

I used scraps of one of my favorite fabrics in this week's quilt block - the print with the little dala horses and nesting dolls. My brother, who is stationed in Japan, brought it home for me a few years ago. I am still looking for the perfect project to use it in, but I am glad I was able to use some in these Scrappy Triangles.

This block is similar to some other zig-zag blocks we have made in the past, but not exactly the same. As we close out the year, more of the foundation paper pieced blocks are going to be variations of earlier blocks.

And like other blocks, there are some fun secondary patterns when multiples are placed together. I really like the design when the quilt blocks are placed like this. Almost like reflected mountains. Click below to download the pattern. Happy sewing!
