Block 11 - Year of Scrappy Triangles

Year of Scrappy Triangles, one year of free weekly foundation paper piecing quilt patterns. A great scrap buster!
Hello everyone! We've made some big changes technology wise at our house this month. We switched from a PC to a Mac and upgraded from EQ7 to EQ8. Needless to say, there has been some frustration, head banging, swearing learning in the process. I think I have most things figured out now, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where EQ8 is saving my pdfs of the Scrappy Triangle templates. So, for now, I just have the outline of the block on the pattern without the seam allowance around it. You will need to trim the block 1/4" outside the square. Do not trim on the line or the block will be too small. I have written trimming instructions on the pattern too, so hopefully there won't be any confusion.

The triangles and strips in this block create a fun secondary pinwheel pattern. I think it would be even more striking if the strips were significantly darker than the small triangles. Play around with it, they go together quickly!

I can't believe that our next block (the simplest of the year) will be the day after Christmas. This month has flown!

Stay safe in your travels! I wish you and your families all of the best.

  1. What fun--I really like the pinwheel that shows up. I think it would be clearer if you said "add 1/4 inch seam allowance to the block". When I read the word "trim" I think I'm supposed to cut something down to a smaller size. I LOVE these blocks!
