When Priorities Change

Last week I made a list of all the things I needed to do in the next few weeks.  It was loooong.  Then on Sunday everything changed.  Our 5 year old got sick.  She had muscle and joint pain to the point she couldn't walk and a strange rash.  We took her to the emergency room and she was diagnosed with HSP.  It is crazy how what is important changes overnight.  Suddenly the garden, weeds, quilts, home improvement, everything just weren't priorities anymore.  They are going to keep her in the hospital for a bit longer and it is going to be a long recovery, but she is soooo much better.

So that is why I didn't post the instructions Monday for That Quirky Scrap Quilt.  I am planning on continuing on next week, but we will see how that goes.  There aren't going to be any firm plans for awhile.

  4. Yikes, I sure hope she is feeling better soon. You are so right about how quickly one's focus is totally changed, especially with a sick child. When she is better folks will be here to carry on.

  5. Sorry to hear that your daughter is sick. Glad that she is on the mend! Thinking of you and hoping for a speedy recovery for her. This mini break gives me the chance to catch up on the QAL. I have my 61 4 patch blocks finished (counting was never a strong point for me) and I am working on my HSTs. Really enjoying it so far!

  6. First of all, let me add my wishes for a speedy recovery for your daughter and that her discomfort is being controlled while in the hospital. I had never heard of HSP, nor did I know what it was, so I immediately Googled it and got lots of information. It sounds very painful, but the good news is that it will go away, usually within a month's time. My prayers are with you all during this time of recovery lv2bquilting2@comcast.net

  8. I am so sorry! I had never heard of this either, until my son (6yo) had it last week after a sore throat the week before. That purpura rash is so bizarre to see in person. Prayers for quick healing and no long term damage from this!

  12. So sorry to hear that your daughter is poorly. My son had a mystery illness last year, which sent his immune system a bit crazy! He also had a rash and joint pain but doesn't sound like he has hsp. we should finally have some answers this week. I hope your daughter has a speedy recovery and no long-lasting events!

  13. Yes, sometimes the unexpected change our priorities, goals, direction in seconds. You, and your focus, are where you need to be. So grateful that prayers were answered and she is back home and on the mend.
