This month I finished up the main section of the Star Flower quilt! I love how it looks so far! I was on a roll and ready to add the borders, but when I went to buy some more of the black fabric at Joann's I discovered that it was out of stock! Augh! I bought it in the calico section - you know, the section where they stock the same fabrics for years and years? - so I assumed there would be more when I needed it. The not-so-helpful salesperson said that they might get it back in stock but that it can sometimes take a month or more. I checked out the other two Joann's in the area and they didn't have any either.
Who knows, maybe as I audition different fabrics for the border I will find something I like better anyways. This might be the push I need to try something out of my comfort zone. Or maybe my black fabric back in stock next month. I'll let you know! :)
Wow! That quilt looks like an illustration! Love it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Isn't life unfair when you consider you have THREE Joanns by you and I have NONE!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I totally agree about the calico section at Joann's - my husband even jokes that I have been making him help "match" the same blue baby fabrics for the last 10 years!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing quilt. I think if you can not find the fabric they resulting "solution" will be fabulous. In my experience when the universe makes you get creative the end results can be incredible. I look forward to seeing how it all ends up.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is stunning. I'm sure you will find something that will work great for a border. I'll be watching.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love the contrast of black with the rainbow colors!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Leila! I love the picture with the sun illuminating from the back--the rich colors you used remind me of stained glass. Good luck with the binding--I agree with wombatquilts that sometimes the best features come from times when circumstances force us to be creative.
ReplyDeleteHer quilt this amazing, you did a great job, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThat is just stunning! I wonder if Joann's online might have that fabric? Their shipping can be a little high but with a coupon that might help offset it.
ReplyDeleteBTW, working on my sampler quilt inspired me to start a new blog! I'm all excited to be blogging again -- I had a blog years ago but abandoned it during a period of time where I had moved and started a new job all at once and wasn't feeling inspired to make things.
Gorgeous! When I opened this post, I said "wow!" right out loud. It's beautiful. I wish I could help with the black fabric, but JoAnn's is so unpredictable in their stocking! I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteBut this quilt is so beautiful. Looks like you are recovering from having a baby with this beauty hanging in the tree.

Just awesome! It is an eye-catcher for sure. Perhaps you could tell me how large a petal of this starflower block is? Thanks.
